Can't afford a piano, keyboard help?

Posted in Electric Piano on October 15th, 2010 by Andrew – 5 Comments

I always loved the piano, from Mozart to Beethoven and always dreamed of being able to play Fur Elise and other classics. Unfortunately I don’t have the money to purchase what I would call a traditional (grand piano) I guess. I need a less expensive alternative but know almost nothing about pianos. I see 51 key, 64 key keyboards and just want to know which one is the closet(in sound and key setup) to an actual grand piano. Also if you know of a particularly good brand that I can learn on that would be much appreciated as well. I don’t want the keys to sound futuristic or electronic, I just want a keyboard that will sound as close as possible to a "normal piano". Thank you so much for your help this means a lot to me.

How much is an average piano?

Posted in Electric Piano on October 13th, 2010 by Andrew – 7 Comments

What is the price range I should keep in mind, when buying my new piano? The piano will not be an electric keyboard, nor will it be a grand piano. Just those average ones. Thanks in advance!

Does a keyboard compare to a grand piano?

Posted in Electric Piano on September 25th, 2010 by Andrew – 5 Comments

I was away not long ago and where I stayed there was a grand piano which we could play on, anyway I loved it even though I can barely play and was wondering, if I buy a keyboard, like a cheap one, maybe ?130-?150 or something, would it compare at all to the feel of playing a grand piano? im referring to the sound, bass, feel of the keys etc, how much would I have to spend just to be able to, "lose myself in the music", if im making sense? the thing is I play guitar so I understand having good gear makes all the difference :

If a electronic keyboard wont cut it can you tell how much ill prob have to shed out? or some recommendations? the thing is I was going to get some new guitar gear, so Im not sure I want to spend over ?150 on this???

Thanks

Electric Piano or Synthesizer?

Posted in Electric Piano on September 24th, 2010 by Andrew – 1 Comment

I want to buy a new keyboard because the one I have sounds really bad. I can’t decide whether to buy an electric piano or a synthesizer. I know the electric piano can play many sounds, such as grand piano or organ, but so can synthesizer, so which one would you suggest? Thanks!
