I greatly suggest Yamaha as they are the only keyboard i’ve had but i Very Greatly suggest Technics and the best make around these days is Korg.
In my opinion, the two most important features on a learning keyboard are full-size keys and velocity sensitivity. They’re crucial to learning the proper technique and feel. I’d also strongly recommend getting a keyboard with good-quality sounds and line outputs for an external amplifier. Just because it’s your first keyboard, it doesn’t have to be a throw-away. If you get a good one, you might even be able to use it on gigs. Yamaha is definitely one of the better brands, so I’d say you’re thinking along the right lines.
